Job Title: Recreation Therapist

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - CAMH is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will work with our interdisciplinary team to provide care to clients from diverse backgrounds. Your role will involve promoting a holistic leisure lifestyle, addressing social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, plan, and facilitate therapeutic recreation programs
  • Conduct assessments and develop individual recreation plans
  • Provide skill instruction and evaluation of individual and group recreation programs
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for youth and staff
  • Support program development and research activities
Requirements:
  • Degree/Diploma in Recreation/Recreation Therapy or Post Graduate Certificate in Recreation Therapy
  • One year of experience in therapeutic recreation principles and practices
  • Eligibility for Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO)
  • Membership in good standing with TRO preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with clients who have addiction and/or mental illness
  • Knowledge of addictions and mental health
  • Certification in Motivational Interviewing
