Job Summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a skilled Field Service Power Generation Technician to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a Field Service Power Generation Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and completing less complex repairs to generators and components at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and complete less complex repairs to generators and components at customer sites.
  • Engage customers in a courteous and professional manner, anticipating and ensuring prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
  • Apply the use of specialized tools and follow documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
  • Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
  • Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation and report any issues/incidents to site management and to their supervisor.

Requirements

  • Red seal certification in Heavy duty mechanics.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products and electrical repair.
  • Intermediate level field service work experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • High Voltage/Low Voltage experience.
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision, hands-on exposure to working on power generation products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
  • Startup and repair of bypass transfer switch.
  • Mentor junior technicians, including technical support and documentation.
