Employment Counsellor

At 360°kids, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Employment Counsellor to join our team. As an Employment Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting participants of our Base4Success employment program in maintaining their employment placement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accompany participants in interviews and provide guidance on first-day-on-the-job expectations.
  • Regularly check-in with participants to address any challenges they may be facing.
  • Develop and implement problem-solving strategies to overcome workplace obstacles.
  • Introduce coping mechanisms and self-care techniques to promote mental well-being.
  • Provide extended support to employers in mentoring young people with mental health challenges.
  • Advocate for participants to sustain their placements and address any concerns with employers.
  • Attend meetings with employers and participants to discuss job carving, scheduling, and other employment-related matters.
  • Organize mental health excursions to introduce safe self-care and coping strategies.
  • Assist youth in developing employment and employability skills, including job search techniques, resume preparation, and career exploration.
  • Build relationships with youth to ensure successful job matching and provide ongoing support throughout the program.
  • Act as a positive role model, mentor, and support for youth as they learn new skills.
  • Market and promote the program to employers and the community, representing 360°kids as required.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a child/youth-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
  • Knowledge of the job market and Employment Standards Act.
  • Counselling experience in life skills and behavior management, assessment, intake, and case management.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and vulnerable sector screening.
