Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Services team. As an integral member of our Inpatient Operations team, you will be responsible for performing technical aspects of prescription preparation, including compounding and dispensing responsibilities, as per master worksheets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform all technical aspects of prescription preparation, including compounding and dispensing responsibilities, as per master worksheets
  • Replenish stock medication supplies for assigned areas
  • Ensure patient information is updated and maintained in the pharmacy computer system
  • Complete all required reports and documentation
  • Attend, participate, and assist in staff and patient training/educational functions
  • Perform workload measurement support functions
  • Perform cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year community college Pharmacy Technician Program or recognized equivalent required
  • Certification by the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities/deadlines
  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Two years of practical and related experience preferred
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) preferred
  • Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
