About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medication to our patients.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager/Operations Manager, you will be responsible for preparing, packaging, and dispensing medication under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Your duties will include compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage forms, dispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients in unit dose, physician order entry, working with automation, inventory control, medication reconciliation, and CIVA systems.

You will also be responsible for preparing chemotherapy doses, distributing narcotics, and participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who has a strong background in pharmacy technology and is able to work independently with minimal supervision. You will have a graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy technician program and be licensed and registered in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP).

Experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, is an asset. You will also have knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy, as well as experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, and decentralized medication dispensing cabinets.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. You will also have basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience, with skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, etc.

Hours

This is a permanent, assignment (temporary), and casual relief (no guarantee of hours) opportunity available in various locations throughout Nova Scotia. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Incentives

Registered Technician: $24.96 - $27.89 Hourly

(Pharmacy Practice Assistants: $23.19 - $26.27)
