About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist II at Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in the rehabilitation team at the High Prairie Health Complex. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate occupational therapy and allied health clinical services within a program or service area.
  • Supervise students and team members as assigned, providing guidance and support to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide leadership and expertise in occupational therapy practice.
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient/family needs, including assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and aligned with Alberta legislation, regulations, professional standards, and AHS policies.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitoring care delivery and identifying service needs.
  • Assist medical staff with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide feedback to staff.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning, representing the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with all ages and types of patients, from pediatrics to seniors.
