Painter/Finisher - Metal Fabrication Specialist

Job Summary:

This Painter/Finisher position is a key role in our manufacturing team at AppleOne. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team and contribute to the production of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret work instructions, engineering criteria, and/or prints of assemblies to ensure accurate completion of tasks.

Set up and operate powered and manual equipment to meet OHSA/Company safety standards, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Complete work orders, filling in the time spent and the quantity of parts completed, to ensure accurate record-keeping and productivity tracking.

Fill out daily reporting sheets to provide essential information for team leads and supervisors.

Painting: Spray paint a wide variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality standards, ensuring a high level of finish and attention to detail.

Painting: Prepare and clean surfaces prior to painting, checking paint viscosity and film thickness, and filling paint pressure pots as required.

Metal Finishing: Responsible for grinding, sanding, and polishing product made of metal, using hand tools and power tools to ensure a smooth finish.

Metal Finishing: Deburr, buff, or polish materials to QA-approved specifications, maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

Silk Screening: Silk screen a variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality and ISO standards, ensuring a high level of finish and attention to detail.

Silk Screening: Match raw material to work order, peel protective coating from parts, and check for scratches, dents, or malformations in accordance with Company quality standards.

Silk Screening: Mix ink products for dispensing, set up silk screen table with correct template and screen, and run oven at correct temperatures for screening parts.

Silk Screening: Complete first-offs and check quality in accordance with Company quality standards, ensuring a high level of finish and attention to detail.

Maintain WHMIS labels, ensuring they are readable, and dispose of chemicals safely and in accordance with company standards.

Regular maintenance, cleaning, and simple troubleshooting of spray or finishing equipment, replacing booth filters (follow PM schedule) as required.

Rotating between paint booth, finishing station, and assembly positions as necessary, ensuring a high level of productivity and efficiency.

Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to Manufacturing Supervisor or team lead, providing essential information for improvement and resolution.

Red tag scrap and record, maintaining a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S principles, and ensuring all equipment requiring maintenance is performed according to maintenance guidelines and established procedures.

Continue to grow Lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement to products and processes, ensuring a high level of quality and efficiency.

Requirements:

High School or GED, or 2-5 years relevant manufacturing experience.

Minimum 1 year previous spray paint, silk screening experience required, or 1 year metal finishing experience.

Basic computer skills an asset.

Able to work from verbal and/or written instructions with minimal supervision.

Good hand-eye coordination required.

Able to work in a fast-paced sheet metal environment.

Eye for detail. High level of concentration and focus required.

Good dexterity and some lifting (up to 40 pounds).

Must be clean-shaven every day in order to wear respirator.
