Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Technician II to join its Financial Services team on a full-time 15-month replacement term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the success of the University's mission by providing exceptional accounting services to students, departments, and customers.
  • Verify, analyze, and record accounting transactions using automated financial systems, and investigate and follow-up on discrepancies or other accounting and administrative matters as required.
  • Follow and explain University Accounts Receivable and Billing policies and procedures to stakeholders, demonstrating a strong commitment to meeting their needs in a professional manner.
  • Collect outstanding accounts, make and document calls on customer accounts, and ensure all accounting documents conform to university standards.
  • Handle receipt of monies, deposit funds received by the university, and maintain records on miscellaneous payments.
  • Run daily sales reports, reconcile daily activity revenue generating ancillary operations, and provide information and handle inquiries for corporate customers, students, and employees.
  • Notify supervisor of any anomalies, situations, or problems, and propose changes or improvements to the workflow within the unit.
Requirements
  • At least two (2) years' experience within a mid-size accounting environment, preferably in Accounts Receivable.
  • Considerable experience with cash transactions, bank deposits, and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Experience and thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel) in a Windows operating system.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
