About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Science Technologist to join our team at Pinchin. As a key member of our Building Science Group, you will be responsible for conducting building and property condition assessments, capital planning, and reviewing existing buildings and structures to determine design and remedial work options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct building and property condition assessments for due diligence and/or capital planning purposes in accordance with ASTM standards and UniFormat.
  • Capital planning building condition assessments.
  • Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures to determine design and remedial work options.
  • Conduct invasive building assessments and testing.
  • Carry out all necessary quantity take-offs and measurements.
  • Development of designs and specifications for restoration projects.
  • Carry out construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are achieved.
  • Prepare written reports of findings.
  • Financial involvement and coordination with project.
  • Maintain QA/QC protocols.
  • Maintain health and safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Architectural Technician/Civil Engineering Technologist/Construction Technician/Science diploma, B.A. or B.Sc. in Architecture, B.Sc. in Building Science.
  • Knowledge with building condition assessments in accordance with the ASTM Designation: E 2018 – 15 Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property Condition Assessment Process.
  • Familiarity with UniFormat and asset management software.
  • Experience with building construction or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and building envelope assemblies.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Ability to read technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Experience writing technical reports.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD.
  • Ability to safely transport and carry equipment.
  • Availability to travel and valid driver's license.
