Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise Dry Goods staff to ensure efficient and courteous customer service
  • Respond to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Maximize sales and gross profit by meeting sales goals and budgets
  • Order, receive, and inventory dry merchandise, ensuring accurate stock levels and displays
  • Hire and train part-time staff, scheduling clerks to control wage costs
  • Interpret and administer company policies, ensuring compliance with union contracts
  • Maintain equipment and ensure the safety and sanitation of the department

Requirements:

  • Three to five years' experience in the retail grocery industry, with previous experience in health and beauty and general merchandise departments an asset
  • Prior management experience is a definite asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours, including days, evenings, night shifts, and weekends
