About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at UNIFOR CONSTRUCTION INC. as a key member of our construction crew.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare building layouts in accordance with local building codes, utilizing measuring tools and equipment.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
  • Develop and submit tenders and quotations for construction projects.
  • Construct foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Coordinate and schedule work on construction sites, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct site surveys and level checks to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices, promoting their growth and development.
  • Supervise and lead other workers on the construction site, fostering a safe and productive work environment.
  • Estimate costs and materials required for projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Operate computer-aided design (CADD) software and other technology systems to support construction projects.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residential and commercial structures, including wooden structures in various settings.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in carpentry or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • English language proficiency.
  • 35 hours of work per week.
