Medical Records Coordinator

This is a Medical Records Coordinator opportunity with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. The incumbent will be responsible for processing and maintaining health records, as well as providing administrative support to the Health Records Team.
Responsibilities- Process and maintain health records in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Sort and distribute mail and reports, and place reports in Terminal Digit (TD) order.
- Filing and pulling health records, and updating health record locations using computer systems.
- Six (6) months experience in a hospital Health Records Department within the last two years or one (1) year medical office experience within the last two years.
- Terminal Digital Filing experience required, and experience working with both electronic and paper health records preferred.
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required, and successful completion of a recognized Medical/Surgical Office Assistant or Health Information Management program preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for certification/licensure/registration purposes.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Good command of English (oral and written) required, and good interpersonal communication skills required.
- Meets deadlines, problem-solves, and exercises judgment for decision-making within the scope of the job description.
- Prolonged physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, using a step stool, bending, lifting, and loading/unloading storage boxes/buckets weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Work environment consists of high noise level, frequent interruptions, no natural light, and may entail working alone.
The estimated salary for this position is $21.429 per hour, based on the title, job description, and location.
