Job Title: Maintenance Technician

**Job Summary:**

Pacific Cove Properties is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our residential maintenance team in Nanaimo, British Columbia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional maintenance support to our building and units.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform general building maintenance under close supervision, including grounds, maintenance, and minor repair work.
  • Conduct general labour work as assigned by property and resident management team, including loading, unloading, moving materials, and running errands.
  • Paint and perform drywall patching as needed.
  • Replace light bulbs/lamps, clean fixtures, and move furniture.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations and resident concerns.
  • Monitor landscaping, common area, and parking facilities.
  • Perform some janitorial duties as needed.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practices safe work habits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

**Required Skillsets:**

  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in maintenance work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively and work independently.
  • May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations.
  • May require shift work and/or on-call duties.
  • Pass criminal background requirements.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Knowledge of older plumbing systems is considered an asset.
  • A Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing or Electrical will be considered an asset.

**Education and Experience:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities and building maintenance or relevant experience.
