Overview

Scotiabank, a leading bank in the Americas, is seeking a highly skilled Chief Risk Management Strategist to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage audits as Office in Charge (OIC) to assess the design and operating effectiveness of model risk management and controls.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead strategic transformation of Audit through innovation, adoption of generative AI and best-in-class technologies, enabling continuous auditing to detect potential issues on an ongoing basis.

  2. Leverage advanced data analytics to drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team, deepening client relationships and leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

  3. Manage and supervise end-to-end audit execution process, ensuring the nature and extent of testing are appropriate to support the objective, scope, and overall opinion.

  4. Ensure audit findings and results are gathered and timely communicated to management, with identified root cause, associated impact, audit recommendations, and management actions addressing the root cause.

  5. Develop and execute a comprehensive and strategic audit plan, staying abreast of changes (business/industry/regulatory), emerging risks, themes, or systemic issues that may impact the risk assessment of the audit universe and the audit plan.

Requirements

  1. A Master's degree in Quant area such as Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, and Business etc.

  2. 5+ years of relevant experience in development or validation of predictive models, including linear regressions, forecasting, time series, ARIMA, and artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques etc.

  3. Strong working knowledge in statistical tests and tools such as SQL, Python, R, and SAS.

  4. 3+ years of working knowledge in Credit and Fraud risk management, with experience in risk strategy being an asset.

  5. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to work with staff and management at various levels.

Estimated Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
