Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Peritoneal Unit

Job Summary:

St. Boniface Hospital is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Peritoneal Unit team. As an LPN, you will provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional practical nursing services to designated patients, including independent nursing services and administration of prescribed medical treatments.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and discharge.
  • Work to full scope of practice, engaging in ongoing education and maintaining competency with Professional Standards of Practice, College of Licensed Practical Nurse of Manitoba Code of Ethics, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Requirements:

  • One year of recent acute medical/surgical nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Eligibility for and willingness to enroll in and successfully complete the Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course (MNNC).
  • Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration.
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Bilingualism (ability to understand and speak English/French).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Adheres to Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and Code of Ethics.
  • Knowledge of Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area.
  • Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions), and other legislated acts.
  • Knowledge of Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
  • Knowledge of Principles of delegation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Rotating shifts and weekends may be required.
  • The successful applicant may be required to provide stand-by coverage for dialysis.
