Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Joe Johnson Equipment Edmonton. As a key member of our supply chain team, you will be responsible for planning and managing inventory levels to meet production requirements and customer demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and purchase raw materials, components, and services to meet production and customer requirements by forecasting demand, analyzing material requirements, and implementing inventory management strategies to prevent shortages and excesses.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and ensure it aligns with physical stock and manage inventory turns and address slow-moving or excess inventory items.
  • Develop suitable procurement and replenishment arrangements for Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and shop supplies.
  • Evaluate, analyze supplier quotes, negotiate prices, and maintain relationships with vendors and assess supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Responsible for daily tracking, creating, and converting purchase requisitions into invoices for suitable vendors using the JDE - ERP system.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams for product development and production planning.
  • Assist with planning and executing in-house manufactured work order and painted parts scheduling as per requirements.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory.
  • Coordinate timely returns of rejected material and ensure that proper credit processes are followed.
  • Resolve purchase order acknowledgement discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Resolve supplier delivery problems contributing to production shortages.
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects assigned.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the Heavy Equipment/Industrial industry considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with inventory software and MS Office.
Working Environment

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of inventory management, procurement processes, and supply chain operations. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and negotiation skills. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
