Job Title: Legal Advisor - Compliance and Ethics

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Advisor - Compliance and Ethics to join our team at Pomerleau. As a key member of our Operational Support team, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal counsel in matters of corporate and commercial law.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the ethics and compliance program, ensuring its effectiveness and sufficiency in preventing and identifying risks and potential cases of non-compliance.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employees on ethics and compliance matters, as well as the application of laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage and follow up on declarations of interest and the hospitality register for employees and the company.
  • Contribute to the development of training content and tools for employees on ethics, compliance, personal information protection, governance, and anti-corruption.
  • Coordinate corporate compliance regarding lobbying and ensure follow-ups on production requests from regulatory bodies.
  • Establish and assess the effectiveness of control measures to prevent and identify risks and potential cases of non-compliance.
  • Keep compliance and governance policies up to date and ensure their proper communication and implementation.
  • Coordinate investigations and assist the human resources function as needed.
Requirements:
  • Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar or the bar of another Canadian province.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about legislation regarding ethics, integrity, and the fight against corruption.
  • Knowledge of labor law and personal data protection.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English-French).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Sharp business sense and great concern for confidentiality.
  • Good communication skills combined with a methodical, flexible, and dynamic approach.
