We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Healthcare Advocate in the Lac La Ronge Indian Band community. In this role, you will have the opportunity to promote health and wellness, while also supporting the development of our community's cultural practices and traditions.

About the Position:

As a Healthcare Advocate, you will work closely with our Health Team to deliver healthcare services, including promotion, prevention, and chronic care. Your responsibilities will include assisting with home visits, providing support and awareness, reinforcing teachings, and interpreting for clients. You will also have the opportunity to participate in events such as cultural camps, gardening initiatives, and traditional outings.

Duties:

  • Assist the health staff in delivering healthcare services, including promotion, prevention, and chronic care;
  • Work closely with the Health Team to provide support and awareness, reinforce teachings, and interpret for clients;
  • Act as an interpreter between English and Cree speaking clients and healthcare providers;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 10 (combination of education and relevant experience may be considered);
  • Knowledge and experience with First Nations culture and traditions is an asset;
  • Must possess the ability to speak/understand the Cree language;
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to travel to outlying LLRIB communities;
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License;
  • Must have Certified First Aid & CPR or willing to obtain;
  • Ability to lift 50- lbs;
  • Must be physically fit and able to take down & set up camps;
