Farm Operations Lead

About the Role

The Farm Operations Lead is a key position within our agricultural operations at Maple Leaf Foods. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the farm, ensuring the health and well-being of the chicken flock, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of farm staff, including egg collection, cleaning, and sanitation.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and well-being of the chicken flock, including administering vaccinations and medications as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve farm efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including production and maintenance, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide training and guidance to farm staff on best practices and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the farm and equipment to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and manage budgets for farm operations, including labor, supplies, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in agricultural operations, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of animal welfare and environmental sustainability practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
