Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician I to join our team in the Molecular and Cellular Biology department. As a Research Technician I, you will be responsible for performing experiments, managing our mouse colony, and maintaining detailed records of experimental data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Genotype and manage our mouse colony
  • Perform molecular biology assays, including PCR, RT-PCR, DNA cloning, and mutagenesis
  • Perform Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence
  • Cell culture and transduction with shRNA and Crispr gRNA lentiviruses
  • Maintain detailed records of all experimental data
  • General lab management

Requirements

  • At minimum, completion of a BSc degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • At minimum, six (6) months of demonstrated research experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and perform multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously and produce high-quality results while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to understand and comply with regulatory issues involving animal subjects
