Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the maintenance of underground and surface fixed equipment, including hoists, conveyances, shafts, crushers, rockbreakers, conveyors, pumping systems, compressors, fuel bays, overhead cranes, fire systems, building maintenance, and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Enforce compliance to all applicable environmental, health, and safety acts, policies, and procedures.
  2. Ensure that all workers work in a safe and healthy manner, with proper protective devices, measures, and procedures.
  3. Make certain adequate accident prevention practices are maintained by reviewing and recommending improvements and procedures.
  4. Ensure all hazards are reported and investigated in accordance with relevant procedures and appropriate remedial actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  5. Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring proper training, following, and understanding of operating procedures, PPE, equipment operation, and effective communication.
  6. Complete all accident investigation reports, inspections, 5-point audits, job observations, tours, 5-point safety cards, and forward them to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Comply with all monthly routine checks, including fire extinguisher and shop inspections.
  8. Hold daily cell safety meetings to communicate safety instructions, information, and gather concerns to be addressed. Document these meetings and concerns and forward to the safety department.
  9. Work with underground supervisors on daily, weekly, and monthly production plans, ensuring availability of manpower, equipment, tools, service, and resources.
  10. Identify and organize the resources required for these plans, equipment, personnel, and services to achieve established production targets. Organize these schedules to maximize utilization rates for each personnel and equipment.
  11. Ensure adequate materials are available to maximize productivity.
  12. Understand and follow the plan (maintenance and production).
  13. Administer all maintenance plans to support desired operating performance.
  14. Schedule daily activities at line up to ensure efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, material, and resources.
  15. Perform physical inspections to determine if work meets company standards in regard to quality, production, and safety.
  16. Recommend measures or changes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and use of equipment and personnel to increase efficiency of the department and entire mine.
  17. Ensure all work completed supports activities of subsequent shifts; communicate these activities during shift change and through the shift log.
  18. Enforce compliance consistently and fairly to all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  19. Anticipate and implement solutions to problems that may occur in operations through troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  20. Ensure relevant discipline is applied promptly.
  21. Promote and encourage supervision in establishing the continuous improvement culture.
  22. Formulate and follow the cell training plan to ensure all necessary training is complete.
  23. Review the need for necessary position postings and post when required.
  24. Maintain proper working relations between mine department and all other departments, including contractor relationships.
  25. Communicate with general foremen, supervisors, departments, and other employees to review direction, resolve problems, recommend priorities, and corrective measures to improve operations and conditions of the entire mine.
  26. Attend morning planning meetings with the superintendent and other management personnel for direction and communication.
  27. Receive and give accurate, timely feedback to supervisors, employees, and other cells.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 10 years of trade-related experience, trades ticket preferred.
  2. Previous supervising experience preferred.
  3. U/G common core preferred.
  4. Possess a valid driver's license.
  5. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  6. Adhere to Barrick core values.
  7. Ability to work safely and effectively in an underground mining environment required.
  8. Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards.
