We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit/High Acuity Unit at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' physical and psychosocial needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions.
- Clinical Leadership: Demonstrate expertise in evidence-based practices, provide clinical guidance to support staff, and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Client and Family Education: Provide psycho-education to individuals, clients, and their support systems, and facilitate individual and group treatment sessions using cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team, communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare providers, and participate in interprofessional conferences.
- Advocacy and Safety: Act as an advocate to protect and promote clients' rights, maintain a safe environment, and adhere to established safety and emergency practices and procedures.
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, one year of recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary, or community setting, and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessments, provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families, and healthcare providers.
