About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Middle Years Teacher to join our team at the York Region District School Board. As a Middle Years Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a range of subjects to students in the middle years level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students
  • Utilize technology to enhance teaching and assessment practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement Social-Emotional Learning programs
  • Work with students exhibiting moderate to severe behavior and develop strategies to support their learning
  • Participate in team-based meetings to discuss student needs and develop Individual Education Plans

Requirements

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Knowledge or experience with alternate education programs and trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team with families to enhance and strengthen their skills in supporting their children
