At Extendicare Canada Inc., we are seeking a skilled Nutrition Support Professional to join our team. This part-time position is available for days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Job Summary

The Nutrition Support Professional assists with food preparation, serving of meals, and maintains cleanliness in the kitchen area. Responsibilities include serving food according to individual diets, assisting cooks with cleaning and preparing uncooked food, clearing plates and trays, loading and operating the dishwasher, and participating in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits for meal serving and maintaining foods at proper serving temperature.
  • Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables, and fruits, following basic instructions in preparing simple foods.
  • Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure, participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, and adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
  • Assembles nourishment carts, stocks unit kitchenettes, and participates in facility meetings as assigned, attending in-service education programs.
Requirements

We require a High School Diploma or Higher Academic Certification, preferably with a Degree/Diploma in nutrition or Food Service Program. Previous experience in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service environments is an asset. The successful candidate must be able to read and write in English, understand simple verbal and written instructions, and work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
