Electronics Engineering Internship Opportunity

Seaspan Shipyards is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electronics Engineering Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will assist the Electronic Systems Integration team on new construction projects at our shipyard in North Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and prepare design and calculation packages to ensure contract design requirements are met.
  • Assist in developing and/or reviewing design documents for fisheries, icebreaking, and naval replenishment vessels.
  • Aid in the development of material specifications and bills of material in accordance with Seaspan material strategies and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with adjacent teams and departments to ensure work is seamlessly integrated and performs properly at every stage in the design and build.
  • Assist in providing technical direction to suppliers and subcontractors related to the Electronics Systems design.
Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a 2nd or 3rd year Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or other similar Engineering degree program.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Proficiency working with CAD/CAM software suite including AutoCAD.
  • Strong technical skills including the ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
  • Knowledge in both analog and digital communication methods as well as networking protocols.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage their time optimally.
