About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team in the Early Years program. The successful candidate will work with families to provide support and reduce health inequities in the prenatal, postpartum, and early childhood period.

The Social Worker will take a person-centered and trauma-informed care approach to perinatal mental health interventions, including screening, biopsychosocial assessment, education, and brief intervention. They will also develop and enhance community relationships, collaborate with community partners, and provide specialist consultation and support to team members.

About You
  • Master of Social Work (specialization in community or perinatal mental health considered an asset)
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work required
  • Two years of clinical experience providing independent assessment and treatment of mental health disorders
  • Experience in a community mental health setting considered an asset
  • Specialized knowledge of acute and persistent mental health disorders and concurrent disorders in the perinatal period an asset
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and risk assessment is an asset

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the social and structural determinants of health as related to prenatal, postnatal, and early childhood
  • Knowledge of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and implications for health, child development, parenting, and attachment outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Broad knowledge of crisis intervention and supportive counseling skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to conduct early and brief interventions with clients
  • This position requires work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout the area.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent Full Time / 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$37.31 - $49.05 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
