As a Registered Nurse in our Adult Mental Health Day Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing individual, family, and group counseling to patients with a variety of mental health diagnoses. Your expertise in counseling and group skills will enable you to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. You will also be responsible for providing coverage for the Wellness clinic, scheduling ECT for outpatients and inpatients, and supporting patients on antipsychotic medications. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships will be essential in this role. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling to patients with mental health diagnoses
  • Develop and implement comprehensive care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams
  • Provide coverage for the Wellness clinic and schedule ECT for outpatients and inpatients
  • Support patients on antipsychotic medications and educate them on physical and psychological effects
  • Participate in discharge planning and develop effective linkages with hospital and community services

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in Psychiatry - Mental Health Nursing preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' psychiatric group experience preferred
