Career Opportunity:

We are seeking an Electrical Cable Specialist to join our team. This role will involve assembling cable harnesses and circuit boards within specified tolerances and timeframes. The successful candidate will be conversant with related safety regulations and technical documentation, including blueprints.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and repair electrical harnesses for installation by soldering, crimping, twisting, encapsulation, and testing under minimal supervision.
  • Assemble assemblies using production control cards, wire assembly operation sheets, and/or other company or customer process specifications.
  • Solder to standards established by the company, with regular requalification.
  • Operate cut & coding as well as labeling machines.
  • Fabricate cable assemblies by grouping, twisting, sleeving, potting, tying, and prepare assemblies for stores.
  • Operate automatic test equipment for acceptance testing of wire assemblies or circuit boards.
  • Manufacture/repair circuit board and component wiring with assistance from engineering drawings, technical manuals, or other directives.
  • Assist on-job-training of other cable specialists.

Requirements:

  • A high school leaving certificate or vocational/trade school training course is required.
  • Training in a mechanical/electrical field and blueprint reading course would be an asset.
  • The ideal candidate will have four years of experience as an Electrical Cable Specialist and completed all on-the-job performance objectives.
  • PWGSC and Transport Canada security clearances are mandatory.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program.
