Design Manager Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team at EllisDon. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development of design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of design proposals, ensuring compliance with RFP requirements and coordination with all disciplines.
  • Lead the design team in developing aggressive design solutions, analyzing project requirements, and guiding design teams to meet project requirements while maintaining budgetary requirements.
  • Develop and coordinate documentation of proposed designs to support estimating project costs.
  • Develop technical submissions, including design and construction narratives and drawing packages.
  • Develop project schedules and logistic plans, coordinate and manage consultant contracts and scopes of work.
  • Ongoing development of relationships with partner consultants and trade contractors, ensuring design compliance and pricing adequacy.
  • Work with the estimating team to ensure adequate design assumptions are managed and contained within project budgets.

Requirements:

  • Construction-related degree and eight to ten years of Design Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, project management, and contract software.
  • Experience in estimating and project management is an asset.
  • Ability to confidently mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relations.
