About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join our Building Group team at EllisDon Construction Services Inc. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the development of design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Proposal Development: Manage the development of design proposals, ensuring they meet project requirements and are compliant with RFP requirements.
  • Design Team Management: Lead and manage a team of designers to develop aggressive and compliant design solutions, coordinating with all disciplines as needed.
  • Project Analysis: Analyze project requirements and guide the design team to meet project requirements while maintaining budgetary constraints.
  • Submission Development: Develop and coordinate submissions and presentations for RFP periods, working collaboratively with the design team.
  • Design Documentation: Develop and coordinate documentation of proposed designs to support estimating project costs.
  • Technical Submissions: Develop technical submissions, including design and construction narratives and drawing packages.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop project schedules and logistic plans, coordinating and managing consultant contracts and scopes of work.
  • Relationship Development: Develop and maintain relationships with partner consultants and trade contractors, ensuring design compliance and pricing adequacy.
  • Design Assumptions: Work with the estimating team to ensure adequate design assumptions are managed and contained within project budgets.
Requirements
  • Education: A construction-related degree and eight to ten years of design management experience.
  • Skills: A working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, project management, and contract software.
  • Experience: Experience in estimating and project management is an asset.
  • Leadership: The ability to confidently mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relations.
