Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to join our team in Calgary, AB. As a key member of our Recruitment & Talent Management solutions team, you will be responsible for leading and managing construction projects from inception to delivery, driving efficiencies, and directing business optimization to improve overall organization performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and oversee major construction projects, providing guidance and support to project and construction management teams.
  2. Set project strategy and success metrics, and manage all aspects of a construction project, including problem-solving and team management.
  3. Act as the principal liaison to clients' senior management, maintaining regular and appropriate relations with their representatives to support business development initiatives, vision, and strategy.
  4. Ensure compliance with company health and safety, environment, quality, and efficiency standards and practices.
  5. Drive the implementation of company core values at all levels, suggesting changes required to achieve them, and be responsible for continuous improvement.
  6. Provide clear and concise reporting of project status and areas of risk to executives, senior management, and clients.
  7. Support estimating teams in preparing and submitting company qualifications and proposals to clients, and identify new clients/projects to pursue.
  8. Interact with company corporate discipline leads and project construction leads to ensure required resources are available on time to comply with contract requirements.
  9. Identify project objectives and requirements, stakeholders, and other third-party engagements to comply and achieve with executed contracts and expectations.
  10. Oversee the preparation of milestone project deliverables as required by company internal processes and contract requirements.
  11. Support project staff in outlining work plans and assigning duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority, supporting recruitment or assignment of key project personnel.
  12. Oversee the overall progress of assigned projects through each phase.
  13. Present and report on project progress and performance, providing overall financial oversight, and monitoring construction progress and budget over the entire life of the project.
  14. Create and drive an inclusive and positive culture, enabling career progression, and building an engaged and resilient team of professionals.
  15. Liaise with project managers, construction managers, and superintendents in developing project and construction execution plans, monitoring overall progress, and looking ahead to ensure effective and efficient utilization of all project resources within approved budget and schedule milestones.
  16. Supervise that projects are built according to approved plans and support project managers to close-out each project in a timely manner.
  17. Build and maintain relationships with clients, their representatives, project stakeholders, and key partners to strengthen company industry leadership and credibility.
  18. Drive innovation, propose technology improvements to industry state-of-the-art, and suggest process changes.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil/Structural), or graduate of an applicable technical diploma program, and/or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years in an oil & gas construction project management or project supervision role or large-scale construction experience.
  • 5-8 years working experience in a managerial role with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Availability to periodically travel to project sites.
