Job Description


As a key member of the Polykar Inc. team, the Head of Production will oversee the management and supervision of production activities. Your primary objective will be to ensure the effective management of the production team to guarantee the manufacturing of good quality products in accordance with standards, technical specifications, and customer requirements in an environment where health and safety are priorities.


Responsibilities



  • Collaborate in effective production planning and ensure the necessary raw materials are available to proceed with production.
  • Effectively monitor current production to achieve operational targets within the required time frame.
  • Organize and control the work of the production team, managing schedules, attendance, overtime, and employee punches.
  • Mobilize the production team around common objectives to ensure superior performance and a high retention rate.
  • Evaluate the performance of each production team member, providing positive reinforcement or addressing discrepancies as appropriate.
  • Responsible for building a culture oriented towards the health and safety of team members, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring the application and respect of safe work methods.
  • Validate labor costs and raw material usage against estimates and implement adjustments to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the quality department to investigate quality issues.
  • Work with process engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance to implement product and process changes.
  • Collaborate in the installation and startup of new equipment.
  • Proactively plan equipment maintenance and repair with the maintenance department.
  • Contribute to the training and effective integration of new employees.
  • Contribute to the management and monitoring of inventory.
  • Work effectively with all departments to ensure that company goals and initiatives are achieved.

Requirements



  • Certified training in operational management or relevant supervisor experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in management or employee supervision in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrate leadership and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills, including the ability to prioritize.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicts.
  • Great sense of autonomy and initiative.
  • Bilingual French/English.
