Job Title: Clinical Assistant

Job Summary:

Seeking a Clinical Assistant to join our Medical Imaging team at Mackenzie Health. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the optimal function of the Medical Imaging Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares inpatients for various exams.
  • Triages and books inpatients with technologists' input.
  • Assists patients who need to change for their test, providing information on dressing and storing personal belongings.
  • Keeps in touch with modalities regarding inpatient and outpatient cancellations.
  • Ensures patients retrieve their personal belongings after their appointment and informs them of wait times to return to their rooms.
  • Monitors and restocks linens and other supplies.
  • Helps transport patients between MI modalities and to and from Central Holding.
  • Assists with safely transferring or lifting patients when needed.
  • Chaperones for exams when required.
  • Provides patients and families with estimated time of departure back to their floors.
  • Cleans and disinfects the area between patients.
  • Transports specimens and bloodwork to the appropriate areas.
  • Manages workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Assists with other duties as requested by the Medical Imaging Team.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology certificate.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Physical strength, flexibility, and endurance required to perform the role, as assessed by the Occupational Health and Safety Department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Imaging experience.
  • Ability to speak a second language.
  • Computer proficiency with experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Standard First Aid/Basic Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
