Aecon Foundations, a leading Canadian Foundations company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project and Commercial Strategist to join our team. This key role will be responsible for driving project controls and commercial strategy on multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to project controls and operations teams to identify emerging issues, leverage lessons learned, and drive tool and process adoption.
  • Collaborate with estimating, operations, and finance personnel to develop methodologies that enhance accuracy of project-level financial forecasting.
  • Attend and contribute to handover and kick-off meetings, providing project controls input on commercial, administrative, and reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate setup of jobs in SAP.
  • Oversee scheduling functions to ensure accurate project performance monitoring and achievement of meet target completion dates.
  • Conduct detailed review and analysis of project performance control and reporting to understand and articulate key metrics and trends.
  • Ensure management is provided with timely review and progress of all projects and activities, including completion of monthly project status reports and forecasting reporting.
  • Support project change management, including subcontractor claims, change requests, claims, and dispute resolution.
  • Support the identification of commercial risks and develops mitigation measures to ensure project control deliverables.
  • Develop, update, and manage Risk Mitigation Plans.
  • Implement an effective system to ensure that all contractually required notices are delivered to the client in accordance with the project agreement.
About You:
  • An undergraduate degree in Business or Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10 years' experience working for a contractor, including experience on major projects/large-scale projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years commercial management experience on major projects throughout the project life cycle from bid to contract closeout.
  • Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating, and cost control.
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Ability to produce, read, and modify schedules and scheduling curves/reports.
  • Leadership and team building skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly identify and articulate issues.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of SAP and required project controls software, which may include Primavera, Hard Dollar, Accubid.

Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 per annum.
