About the Role

We are looking for an experienced lawyer to provide legal support to our growing software business. This position involves reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts, as well as offering legal advice to support business operations, strategic decisions, and corporate compliance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate corporate, vendor, and client contracts to ensure alignment with our company's philosophy, operations, and strategy.
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance: Monitor and maintain compliance with corporate legal obligations and applicable legislation.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide legal guidance to support business operations and strategic decision making based on risk assessment, cost analysis, and feasibility evaluation.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong Competence in Contract Management: Experience in drafting, reviewing, managing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify legal risks in a business environment and provide sound judgment when offering legal advice.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear interaction with clients and internal teams.
  • Professional Certification: Member in good standing of the Alberta Bar.
  • Minimum Work Experience: At least 4 years of experience in corporate/commercial law (in-house or law firm) with preference given to experience in an in-house legal counsel role.
