Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Services Inspector to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, reviewing extra work, contract drawings and documents, and claims. You will also be responsible for monitoring contractors' delivery of construction and maintenance operations, patrolling and reporting on road conditions, hazards and/or deficiencies, and providing direction to contractors and operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor contractors' delivery of construction and maintenance operations
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Review extra work, contract drawings and documents, and claims
  • Patrol and report on road conditions, hazards and/or deficiencies
  • Provide direction to contractors and operators
  • Liaise with contractors, property owners, internal staff, and the general public to address issues and complaints
Requirements
  • Valid 'G' license or equivalent
  • Proven experience and knowledge of constructions and/or maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of highway, construction standards and specifications, and maintenance
  • Ability to monitor contractor's operations, assess contractors' and consultants' work for compliance
  • Ability to interpret contract drawings and documents
  • Interpret and apply knowledge of related policies, acts, regulations, and procedures for safety, and environmental protection
