Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Services Inspector to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. As a Contract Services Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring contractors' delivery of construction and maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and providing direction to contractors and operators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor contractors' delivery of construction and maintenance operations
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, review of extra work, contract drawings and documents, and claims
  • Patrol and report on road conditions, hazards and/or deficiencies
  • Provide direction to contractors and operators, making sure the required work records are maintained
  • Liaise with contractors, property owners, internal staff, and the general public to address issues and complaints

Requirements

  • Valid 'G' license or equivalent
  • Proven experience and knowledge of constructions and/or maintenance practices, including inspection, material sampling, testing, and road patrolling duties
  • Knowledge of highway, construction standards and specifications, and maintenance
  • Ability to monitor contractor's operations, assess contractors' and consultants' work for compliance
  • Ability to interpret contract drawings and documents
  • Interpret and apply knowledge of related policies, acts, regulations, and procedures for safety, and environmental protection
