We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Structural Engineer to lead our design and engineering efforts for temporary and permanent works. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical and commercial oversight, ensuring effective governance of our teams.

As the vital link between our local Managing Director and project staff, your primary focus will be on the structural engineering of steel, reinforced concrete, and timber elements for support of excavation (SOE) and other underground structures, with a strong emphasis on ground-structure interaction.

Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze temporary structures such as excavation supports, formwork, work platforms, steel frames, TBM launch frames, traffic decking, temporary bridges, and walkways.
  • Conduct structural design and analysis for permanent structures, including reinforced concrete, fiber-reinforced shotcrete, steel struts, and bracing.
  • Collaborate with our client's construction team to develop innovative and practical structural solutions.
  • Review constructability and develop value engineering concepts.
  • Prepare analysis reports and specifications to effectively communicate structural design and construction principles to clients and third parties.
  • Manage internal communications and coordination between the engineering and CAD teams.
  • Provide constructability input to design processes and on-site construction activities.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers in their professional growth.
  • Independently validate designs and seal engineering documents and drawings.
Requirements
  • P.Eng. license holder in Ontario (additional provinces preferred).
  • Extensive experience in structural engineering, particularly with ground-structure interaction.
  • Proficiency in national and international design standards for concrete, steel, and timber.
  • Excellent English language skills, organizational abilities, and communication skills (French is a plus).
  • Familiarity with tunnel construction methods such as SEM/NATM, TBM, Cut & Cover, and related geotechnical engineering works.
  • Experience in foundation engineering and temporary works.
