Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Child Development Specialist to join our team at Kids and Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs of children, including those with special needs.
  • Activity Planning: Plan and lead activities that promote learning, creativity, and socialization among children, such as storytelling, music, and arts and crafts.
  • Environment Maintenance: Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, adhering to licensing regulations and company policies.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Certifications and Training: Possess a Child Development Assistant (ECE level 1) certification and up-to-date First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Experience and Skills: Have experience working with children in a childcare setting, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work Conditions: Be able to work in a fast-paced environment, handling repetitive tasks and combining sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day.
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Repetitive Tasks: Perform repetitive tasks, such as preparing snacks and materials for activities.
  • Combination of Sitting, Standing, Walking: Spend time sitting at tables, standing while leading activities, and walking between rooms.
  • Bending, Crouching, Kneeling: Frequently bend, crouch, or kneel to interact with children or retrieve items from shelves.

  • Dependability: Demonstrate dependability and punctuality in attending work and meeting deadlines.
  • Efficient Interpersonal Skills: Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, parents, and guardians.
  • Excellent Oral Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively with children, staff, and parents through spoken language.
  • Excellent Written Communication: Write clear and concise reports, emails, and other correspondence as required.
  • Reliability: Demonstrate reliability and responsibility in carrying out assigned tasks and duties.
  • Team Player: Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals and support the well-being of children.
  • Values and Ethics: Uphold the values and ethics of the organization, maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of children and families.
Experience and Education
  • Experience: Possess relevant experience working in a childcare setting, with an asset being permanent employment.
  • Education: Hold a college or CEGEP diploma, with a focus on early childhood education.
Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
