Job Description

This two-year program offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in mine closure and environmental stewardship. You will gain hands-on experience through rotational assignments at various closed North American sites and functional departments.

You will work alongside industry professionals, developing a well-rounded skill set in closure planning, execution, and management. To support your professional growth, you will be enrolled in the Copper Leadership Development Program, providing essential leadership and business training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gaining hands-on experience at various closed sites by supporting water treatment plant operations, conducting monitoring, sampling, and inspections, and assisting in minor capital project management.
  • Completing Capital Management Framework (CMF) Project Management Training to enhance project planning and execution skills.
  • Working closely with specialized mentors to gain insight into key closure disciplines, including health & safety, water geochemistry, tailings dam management, and rock mechanics.
  • Developing a strong technical foundation in aquatic & terrestrial biology, water treatment plant operations, and ground control to support sustainable closure practices.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Environmental, Geotechnical, Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, Civil) or in Earth and Environmental Science.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The willingness and ability to travel within North America, including to remote locations.
