Job Overview

The City of St. John's is seeking motivated and enthusiastic professionals to fill the role of Inclusion Counsellor. This position plays a vital part in fostering inclusive experiences for participants of all ages facing barriers to participation in our Summer Recreation Programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing one-on-one support to participants with disabilities/special needs, encouraging active participation, and supporting inclusion within recreation programs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide individualized support to program participants with disabilities/special needs.
  2. Encourage active participation and inclusion in recreation programs.
  3. Support participants in developing life skills and confidence.
Requirements
  1. Some post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, or Special Education.
  2. Previous experience working with children/youth in a recreational group setting.
  3. Additional experience in areas such as behavior management techniques, knowledge of various types of disabilities, and program planning/adaptation would be considered an asset.
