As a Senior Quality Care Operations Manager at Walmart Canada, you will play a critical role in driving the success of our Western Region's Health and Safety Management System – W CARE Program. With over 2000 associates across three DCs in Calgary, this is an exciting opportunity to lead a transformational initiative that fosters engagement towards safety and elevates our DC operations to world-class standards.

The ideal candidate will possess subject matter expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and project management experience to drive continual improvement within the H&S function in their Region. They will be responsible for leading a team of 5 H&S professionals who will execute strategies and day-to-day H&S functions. The Regional H&S Manager must quickly identify top talent and empower them to mitigate facility-specific losses and risks.

This role involves coaching and facilitating forward-thinking H&S compliance improvement programs and employee engagement to deliver year-on-year reductions in workplace injuries and incidents. You will effectively manage team performance, continuously enabling your team to improve and grow. As a leader of an operational support function, you will recognize the importance of effectively communicating and influencing key stakeholders.

You will work closely with GMs/Directors and other leadership team members to support H&S initiatives at multiple sites. The ability to form and communicate strong business cases to garner support is essential. Additionally, you will establish and monitor regular communication of H&S information, make recommendations, and ensure the effectiveness of the on-the-job H&S Program.

Key responsibilities include providing quality assurance on incident investigations, ensuring proper root cause analysis and corrective measures are in place. You will perform regular workplace inspections to highlight and address safety concerns and provide visible evidence of interest, involvement, and commitment to the H&S Program.

Reviews of H&S trends will initiate improvements to help reduce hazards and prevent reoccurrences. You will review and report H&S KPIs to senior leadership/sites and support them in establishing corrective measures to improve overall H&S.

To succeed in this role, you will need to practice utilizing various industry-accepted qualitative and qualitative H&S Risk Assessment methods such as Job Hazard Analysis, Job Safety Analysis, Ergonomic Assessments, Job Demand Analysis, Hazard Risk Assessment, etc. You must demonstrate the ability to identify and execute risk mitigation strategies using cross-functional project teams.

Your technical knowledge will enable you to identify and address workplace risks and hazards. Staying current on state-of-the-art H&S technologies and methodologies through established relationships with key vendors, industry professional organizations, etc. is crucial.

In terms of required qualifications, you should have a strong educational background in a relevant field and a proven track record of success in a similar role. In addition, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $85,000 - $110,000 CAD, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. This figure includes a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career growth and development.
