Financial Controller Assistant

Job Title: Assistant Controller
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven professional to join our team as an Assistant Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
- Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Maintaining documentation for fixed assets, treasury and conducting internal/external audits.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
- Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing and adjusting journal entries.
- Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.
- Cash Flow Forecasting.
- Assisting with initial internal control evaluations.
- Posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
- Vacation back up and cross-training for accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll.
- Responsible for revenue management of Property, Operational, and Intercompany billings.
Requirements:
- Highly motivated and driven professional, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
- Strong financial, analytics and business acumen skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills with the ability to effectively articulate conclusions from the analysis conducted, including challenges and opportunities.
- Positive attitude, good judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
- Construction industry experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accounting or similar role is required.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in related field is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as being a team player.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Good problem-solving and time management skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
