Job Title: Assistant Controller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven professional to join our team as an Assistant Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
  • Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Maintaining documentation for fixed assets, treasury and conducting internal/external audits.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing and adjusting journal entries.
  • Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting.
  • Assisting with initial internal control evaluations.
  • Posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
  • Vacation back up and cross-training for accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll.
  • Responsible for revenue management of Property, Operational, and Intercompany billings.

Requirements:

  • Highly motivated and driven professional, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Strong financial, analytics and business acumen skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills with the ability to effectively articulate conclusions from the analysis conducted, including challenges and opportunities.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Construction industry experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accounting or similar role is required.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in related field is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as being a team player.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
