About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Automation and Digitalization division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading control systems projects from inception to completion, ensuring that project goals, timelines, and budgets are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead control systems projects, including design, development, and implementation, to meet the specific requirements of a project.
  • System Design and Development: Design and develop control systems, including hardware and software components, to meet the specific requirements of a project.
  • Integration and Testing: Integrate control systems with existing or new equipment, machinery, or processes, and test and debug control systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications.
  • Documentation and Communication: Prepare technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, user manuals, and maintenance procedures, and communicate project progress and challenges to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, budgets, and resourcing, including managing the procurement of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, and develop contingency plans and mitigating strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering with a focus on automation and electrification technologies.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial engineering; preferably in Pulp & Paper.
  • Professional Certifications: Registered as an EIT or P.Eng., or AScT in British Columbia.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of automation and electrification technologies, including knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
