Community Storyteller

We are seeking a skilled journalist to uncover impactful community stories in Chemainus and Ladysmith.
This role involves researching, reporting, and writing compelling news stories, features, and human-interest pieces that resonate with our audience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Researching and gathering information to inform news stories and feature articles.
- Capturing high-quality photographs and videos to enhance storytelling and engage readers.
- Conducting interviews with community members, local officials, and subject matter experts to gather information and provide balanced, accurate coverage of news events and issues.
- Collaborating with editors and fellow journalists to brainstorm story ideas, coordinate coverage, and ensure timely publication of content.
- Staying informed about local events, trends, and developments in Ladysmith and Chemainus, proactively seeking out story opportunities and pitching ideas to editors.
- Ensuring all reporting and storytelling adhere to ethical standards and journalistic principles, including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity.
