Job Summary: We are seeking a talented journalist to uncover impactful community stories in Chemainus and Ladysmith.

About the Role: As a multimedia journalist for Black Press Media, you will be responsible for researching, reporting, and writing compelling news stories, features, and human-interest pieces that resonate with our audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and write news stories, features, and human-interest pieces that showcase the best of Chemainus and Ladysmith.
  • Capture high-quality photographs and videos to accompany written content, enhancing storytelling and engaging readers.
  • Conduct interviews with community members, local officials, and subject matter experts to gather information and provide balanced, accurate coverage of news events and issues.
  • Collaborate with editors, fellow journalists, and other team members to brainstorm story ideas, coordinate coverage, and ensure timely publication of content.
  • Stay informed about local events, trends, and developments in Ladysmith and Chemainus, proactively seeking out story opportunities and pitching ideas to editors.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and journalistic principles, including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity, in all aspects of reporting and storytelling.
