Environmental Permitting Specialist for Sustainable Transportation Projects

About the Role: WSP Canada is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team in Ontario. As a key member of our environmental consulting team, you will be responsible for coordinating environmental permits and approvals for complex transportation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain environmental permits and approvals tracking logs for multi-disciplinary transportation projects
  • Guide the preparation of environmental permit and approval applications
  • Work with designers and constructors to ensure compliance with environmental rules, regulations, and project-specific commitments
  • Provide technical leadership to the team, offering strategic advice and oversight on project management
  • Consult with regulators and clients, overseeing innovative programs engaging Indigenous communities and project stakeholders
  • Direct environmental planning for transportation, energy, and resource projects, including impact assessments and related studies
  • Contribute to team growth by developing relationships with key clients, identifying new project opportunities, and supporting proposals
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff, identifying career goals and development opportunities
  • E nsure health and safety policies are followed, serving as a role model for WSP's Life Saving and corporate values

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in environmental studies, science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least 8 years of experience in environmental permitting and coordination, with a focus on transportation-related projects
  • Existing relationships with municipal and provincial regulatory agencies
  • Experience managing complex projects and teams, with expertise in building client relationships

Estimated Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
