About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Artist to join our team at Electronic Arts. As a Technical Artist, you will play a critical role in supporting our Art teams and ensuring seamless collaboration between Art and other departments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to our Art teams, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to create high-quality assets.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and maintain best practices, quality bars, pipelines, and processes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies, adapting and implementing new processes to address production constraints.
- Troubleshoot and prioritize artist issues with tools and art creation workflows.
- Work with developers to ensure features are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Advocate for the department's goals and needs, removing roadblocks and raising red flags as necessary.
- Cultivate strong relationships with members in other departments to ensure a cohesive working environment.
- Provide clear guidance on technical performance constraints, maintain assets, and help define asset budgets.
- Contribute to project-level discussions and contribute to the development of a great game and a great development experience.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in the games industry as an artist, with some time in Technical Art.
- In-depth expertise in relevant 3D and 2D software packages (e.g., Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush).
- Strong understanding of pipelines and how to design and optimize them.
- Good understanding of asset optimization challenges/techniques and content creation best practices.
- Ability to own challenging issues and find practical solutions.
- Strong understanding of game engines and art integration, as well as corresponding technical restraints.
- Experience addressing game performance and optimization.
- Ability to receive and deliver constructive criticism.
- Ability to inspire positivity within their team and trust with other departments.
- Passion for making and playing games.
