Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Fitness Supervisor to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Toronto. As a key member of our Aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring service excellence in all Aquatic Program spaces and assisting in the supervision and safe operation of these programs and spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to all Aquatics areas, including the YMCA Swim Program and Junior Lifeguard Program.
  • Recruit, train, and coach YMCA staff and volunteers for the delivery of Aquatics programs.
  • Monitor the safety of all activities and programs and respond immediately to rectify any safety concerns.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with YMCA standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor membership service in the assigned service areas to current SAM and EYE standards.
  • Act as the Pool Operator as outlined in the Ontario Health Regulations 565.
  • Give leadership to AED, First Aid, and CPR, including training staff, volunteers, and participants.
  • Ensure the safety of all members, property, and staff by following established Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation Leadership, or a related field.
  • Recommended minimum 2 years instructing and supervisory experience.
  • National Lifeguarding Service Award.
  • Other Recognized Swim Instructor Qualification (Red Cross, LSS).
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • YMCA Swim Instructors Certification an asset.
  • Aquatic Supervisory Training an asset.
  • Instructor/Examiner qualifications an asset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, evenings, and weekends.
  • Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
