Job Title: Automation Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Professional to join our team at MPE Engineering Ltd. in Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, and the Sunshine Coast.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation and control system planning, design, programming, and maintenance. They will be responsible for programming and testing of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, as well as on-site commissioning and startup. The candidate will also support local clients by troubleshooting control systems via remote access or on-site, work and coordinate with contractors, assist in control system design, assess existing control systems, develop control system upgrade strategies, implement and specify secure network and remote access schemes, and educate clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Programming and testing of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
  • On-site commissioning and startup
  • Supporting local clients by troubleshooting control systems via remote access or on-site
  • Work and coordinate with contractors
  • Assist in control system design
  • Assess existing control systems
  • Develop control system upgrade strategies
  • Implement and specify secure network and remote access schemes
  • Educate clients
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing or certification with EGBC/ASTTBC
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Background in electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Experience with municipal water and wastewater systems
  • Experience with a variety of automation software and hardware systems, including Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, Emerson, Horner, Automation Direct PLCs, VTScada, iFIX, FactoryTalk, AVEVA SCADA software, Red Lion, Maple, Allen Bradley, Automation Direct HMIs, Cellular and spread spectrum radio communication infrastructure, Control system networking, VPN, Routers, Switches, OT infrastructure
  • Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Willingness to travel in order to support maintenance and commissioning tasks

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on the experience of the candidate.
